Hi, Dan Sheehan from Social Merlin back again for another Marketing Minute. Today’s Topic: Where Can Financial Advisors Find Blog Topics?
One of the challenges you will face as a regular blog writer is not knowing what you should write about. You may initially have many ideas to showcase your knowledge to your niche market, but eventually, you’ll likely run out of ideas. Today I’ll be sharing some guidelines and tools to help with you create a continuous flow of blog topics.
Start by dividing your blog topics into categories based on your avatar’s needs, as related to your product or service. Tweak those topics to be niche specific. The more specific you make the topic, which addresses your avatar’s concerns or needs, the better.
Consider how these topics are relevant to your avatar and then produce quality content that will be reusable or evergreen. There are also online tools to help you generate blog topics.
One is, HubSpot Blog Ideas Generator is a nifty free tool that is easy to use. You need your list of keywords for your niche market, enter them individually, and click on “Give Me Blog Ideas” and the tool will generate 5 topics for you. They may not all be on target, but it’s a starting point.
Don’t forget your Google Analytics blog traffic reports for inspiration. Ensure that your Google Analytics account has been integrated with your Search Console account. You can now access your Search Console Report by navigating to “Acquisition,” then “Search Console,” then “Queries.” You can see the search queries which lead organic traffic or basically traffic you don’t pay for, to your website. Armed with the top search queries, you can research similar blog ideas and expand your keyword list with content that interests your audience. Also, don’t forget the free search engine extension called Keywords Everywhere.
Google Analytics will also indicate which blog topics drew the most traffic. Review those blogs and identify what set them apart, so you can duplicate those strategies and topics. Simply put, create more variation of what’s already attracting prospects to your blog for even greater success.
