Hi, Dan Sheehan from Social Merlin back again for another Marketing Minute. Today’s Topic: “3 Key Steps to Your YouTube Business Channel Success”
If you’re investing time and effort in developing video content for your YouTube Business Channel, you’ll want your channel to succeed. To benefit from your marketing efforts, you need your subscriber list to grow and your content to be viewed and shared. I want to share the critical components that will set up your YouTube Business Channel for success – starting with these three key steps:
1. To build a successful YouTube channel, you must keep the golden rule for all online content in mind. You want to attract the attention of your target audience right off the bat. So, when you set up your channel and upload videos, select the category that matches your targeted video content. Use trending keywords and themes to ensure that your content is featured in searches. Video works particularly well when you’re presenting overviews of financial strategies or educating your audience on a specific topic mixed in with some personal information.
2. It’s important to establish a benchmark and guidelines for your target market. Have a look at videos posted by financial advisors on YouTube and the categories they’ve selected. You’ll probably note that most of them have chosen “Education” as their primary category. Also, have a look at the types of content they’re publishing; is their target market obvious? Consider whether you could leverage something similar and make it even more focused to your niche.
3. Introduce new visitors to your channel by producing a great YouTube Channel Trailer. Your channel trailer is like a warm, welcoming handshake and shouldn’t be longer than 30 – 60 seconds in length. Be approachable while you deliver a punchy summary of how subscribing to your channel will serve your audience.
Setting up your YouTube Channel Trailer video is quick and easy. From your YouTube Profile icon, click on “Your Channel” in the dropdown menu. Click on “Customize Channel” on the channel homepage. A screen will open where you upload your new Channel Trailer video. Add your description and SEO tags before you click “Publish.”
Go back to the Channel homepage and click on “Customize Channel” again. Select the “For New Visitors” tab and click the “+ Channel Trailer” button to assign your new video as your channel trailer. Click “Save” and your trailer is all set.
